Our mission, expected conduct, confidentiality terms and practical studio rules are available here so collaborators can understand the standard before they arrive.
Version 1.0 · 13 August 2026
Mission, culture, and code of conduct
This sets the standard for everyone who works, creates, learns, visits, performs, volunteers, or collaborates with Grindspot Studio.
Our mission
We bring artists, makers, performers, crew, learners, and community partners together to create original work with courage and care. We share knowledge, protect the vulnerable, honour commitments, and leave people and places better than we found them.
How we work
Respect before egoListen, credit people, and disagree without humiliation.
Clear is kindSay what is needed, ask when unsure, and raise problems early.
Consent is ongoingFor touch, stunts, intimacy, images, recording, personal stories, and use of anyone's work.
Do what you saidBe punctual, prepared, sober, careful with equipment, and honest when plans change.
Everyone helps the roomShare the load, clean up, welcome newcomers, and protect focused work.
Safety can stop the workAnyone may call a stop when something appears unsafe. Work resumes only when the concern is addressed.
Where this applies
In the studio, on location, at events and classes, in project transport or accommodation, online, and in all studio-related messages, calls, and social activity—regardless of seniority, status, fame, experience, or whether someone is paid.
Code of conduct
No harassment, racism, bullying, or discrimination. No intimidation, stalking, threats, unwanted sexual attention, racist conduct, slurs, exclusion, or degrading treatment.
No political campaigning or tribal conflict at work. Respectful discussion relevant to a story, safety, workplace rights, or the work is allowed. Nobody must disclose or defend a political opinion.
A secular and belief-neutral workplace. People of any faith or none are welcome; preaching, recruitment, pressure, and ridicule are not.
Use professional language and good manners. Do not shout people down, maliciously gossip, publicly shame, or hide insults inside jokes. Critique the work, not a person's worth.
Consent and personal boundaries are real. Ask before touch, recording outside agreed coverage, sharing personal information, using a personal story, or changing an agreed stunt or intimate action.
Protect safety, people, and property. Follow safety leads, safeguarding requirements, equipment procedures, and stop-work calls. Report hazards, injuries, near misses, and damaged gear.
Privacy and confidentiality matter. Do not share private contact details, schedules, locations, images, scripts, footage, financial information, passwords, incidents, or unreleased material without authority.
No retaliation. Do not punish or disadvantage someone for raising a concern in good faith, declining unsafe or unagreed activity, or supporting a review.
Raising a concern
If it feels safe, name the behaviour and ask for it to stop. Otherwise, contact the project lead or safeguarding contact. In immediate danger, call 111 and move to safety. You may also contact Police, WorkSafe, a union, lawyer, or another appropriate authority.
The acknowledgement and contact fields are completed when this policy is formally issued to a participant. This public copy does not remove or restrict anyone's legal rights.
Working template 1.0 · 13 August 2026
Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement
The full NDA is public and can be completed online. The recipient can review every term, enter the agreement details, sign, submit it securely to Grindspot, and print or save a copy. Grindspot must still identify the correct legal entity and countersign the agreement.
Where Grindspot gives someone access to non-public material for an authorised project purpose, confidential information can include scripts, designs, software, unreleased media, budgets, negotiations, personal and safeguarding information, schedules, locations, credentials, security details, and anything marked or reasonably understood to be confidential.
Recipient responsibilities
Use confidential information only for the authorised purpose and keep it reasonably secure.
Share it only with authorised people who genuinely need it and are bound by suitable confidentiality duties.
Do not publish, stream, forward, sell, repurpose, or use it to compete with or bypass the studio without written permission.
Do not enter it into a public or third-party AI, file-sharing, transcription, or similar service unless Grindspot has approved the service and use in writing.
Promptly report actual or suspected loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure.
Important limits
The agreement does not cover information lawfully known without a duty, independently created, lawfully received without restriction, or made public without a breach. It never prevents lawful reporting of crime, wrongdoing, harassment, discrimination, abuse, safety or safeguarding concerns; protected disclosures; seeking confidential professional advice; cooperating with authorities; or exercising protected workplace rights.
Privacy, ownership, return and duration
Personal information may be accessed only where required for the authorised purpose and must be handled lawfully. Disclosure does not transfer ownership or settle credit, payment, moral rights, performer consent, or image rights. On request or when involvement ends, studio property and confidential material must be returned or securely deleted, subject to lawful record-keeping and protected backups.
The current template proposes three years for ordinary obligations, with trade secrets, credentials, private personal information, safeguarding or incident information, and unreleased personal images protected for as long as they remain confidential or applicable law requires.
The online agreement contains the complete terms, signatures, governing-law clause, and project-specific details. It should be reviewed by a New Zealand lawyer before routine or high-value use. An NDA is not a release, employment or contractor agreement, IP assignment, talent release, image consent, child-safety plan, or health-and-safety document.
