The Good News Party
Setup: Winter throws a small celebration because a new civic programme has been announced. The room contains people who know it will hurt ordinary citizens.

Turn: Rainspeed tries to turn the shakedown into a business proposal; Smashalice has a reason not to trust the crew.

Turn: The aide has witnessed something that makes the approved story impossible to say aloud.
The Song Nobody Ordered

Turn: The person with the best technical solution does not want to escape.

Turn: The lights return for one minute, revealing who came armed and who came alone.

Turn: A familiar object in the visitor’s pocket proves a connection nobody expected.

Turn: The scavenger names a price that only one person can pay.

Turn: The captain admits the order they carry is not the order they want to follow.
Sky / PatchkidRebels · 18The golden child who notices the darkness first.
Raised around machines, with Jackrock as mentor. She has run from Dr. Safari and carries more responsibility than an eighteen-year-old should.
Play it: old beyond her years in one moment; unmistakably a teenager in the next. Notice the thing everyone else is avoiding.
RainspeedRebels · 30-ishCelebrity skater turned storyteller and moral catalyst.
Gifted, charming and emotionally intelligent. A former hedonist who turns ordinary people into legends, especially through song and story.
Play it: empathetic, creative and outgoing. He takes the high ground, sometimes without asking anyone first.
RaidstarRebels · 30-ishCalm veteran; a ninja when cornered.
A disciplined martial-arts soldier who travels with smart skates Moto and Crank. Her discipline slips only occasionally.
Play it: economy of movement. Say little. Notice everything.
JackrockRebels · 45-ishMechanic dad, technologist and Sky’s mentor.
A working trucker-type tinkerer with Kurt Russell energy. He has been through the wars and carries a need to surpass his violent Armorer father.
Play it: dry, tired, funny; never quite as grumpy as he sounds.
AquaplaneRebels · 30-ishThe awkward Achilles who will not stay down.
She has broken with authority when it crossed a line. Every knockdown becomes part of the eventual triumph.
Play it: earnest and a little clumsy, but never quitting.
SmashaliceRebels · 25-ishWorking-class hero with swagger and grief.
Seventies soul and funk, big attitude, big heart. She is imprisoned and must escape, while carrying the loss of Minicoop.
Play it: warmth and sass up front; the grief stays behind it.
Bone-CladRebels / Bonerats · 35-ishTunnel gang leader, slowly pulled toward doing good.
A hard slumlord with money, grime and bling. Rainspeed can appeal to his ego and greed until he finds himself helping for questionable reasons.
Play it: menace first, then a flicker of curiosity and warmth he tries to hide.
Dr. SafariArena · 30-ishBattle Clock ringmaster with a growing conscience.
Charming, handsome, hedonistic and cowardly when there is danger. He profits from a cruel system, then has to become genuinely good.
Play it: charm as armour; a conscience he keeps trying to talk himself out of.
GrimstoneArena · 40-ishSafari’s mercenary detective and loyal partner.
Professional, serious, watchful. He tracks Sky and treats loyalty as a job done properly.
Play it: quiet, observant and unimpressed by almost everything.
WinterArena · 22-ishGood-hearted duchess who assumes the world will be kind.
Elegant, privileged and a little clueless about how bad things are becoming. Dr. Safari’s first love; Seven’s older sister.
Play it: gracious, sunny, and entirely sure it will work out.
SevenArena · 25-ishFast, cheeky sister with more strength than she knows.
A tomboyish rich girl, close to Sky and eventually drawn to Dr. Safari. She can pack a punch without making a fuss about it.
Play it: quick, cheeky and unaware of how good she is.
UltimateneonBaron faction · 30-ishThe flawless combat master corrupted by evil.
A perfect fighter with only tradition and abstract honour left intact. Stillness, manners and something deeply broken underneath.
Play it: a predator with perfect control. Do less, make it count.
Pilot ChainBaron faction · 30-ishJetpack diplomat; a cold surface with a tiny conscience.
Ultimateneon’s right hand. He is corrupt and dangerous, but an occasional spark of doubt slips through.
Play it: a diplomatic machine whose humanity occasionally glitches.
StormcrowMayor of Stonkin’ City · 40sA corrupt mayor and heavy-voiced strategist.
He uses civic authority to prosecute and control, including the machinery brought down on Smashalice. Cold, mean and cynical, he may eventually contribute to a righteous resistance—but never without calculation.
Play it: slow, heavy and contemptuous. His authority fills the room before he raises his voice.
SpincycleBetween worlds · 25-ishHoneypot, triple agent, strategist.
A seventies Russian KGB presence with a silenced pistol. Nobody knows whose side she is on—until it matters.
Play it: cool, amused, always a step ahead.
RastronixRebel ally · 50sHealer, medic, almost-psychic and Jackrock’s closest friend.
Kind, intelligent and loyal, but conservative and afraid of reality. He shuts Sky down when she reaches the truth.
Play it: wise and gentle—until the unbearable subject arrives.
TinaRebel ally · 40-ishRainspeed’s warm, steady counterweight.
She knows the man behind the legend and is the only person who can tell him no.
Play it: calm strength; affection without indulgence.
TumaPacifica–Māori allyCourteous general and local sovereign.
Leader of a powerful township whose fighters may join the rebellion.
Play it: proud, grounded and never asking to be treated as smaller than he is.
BikkybearingsRebel ally · 22Young, brave fighter with a crush on Smashalice.
Witty with a weapon, naive enough to get into danger, brave enough to get back out. Her feelings make her clumsy around Smashalice.
Play it: Irish/Celtic energy; brave before ready.
HailslideArena gladiatorMotorbike, bow and arrow, Viking energy.
A trans battler who wastes no language and no movement.
Play it: no-nonsense, spare and direct.
MinicoopWorker / Smashalice’s partnerA practical maker caught in the first sweep of the regime.
In GRINDSPOT 0B, she and Smashalice trade small equipment to survive. A civic drone kills her during an inspection, leaving Smashalice with love, rage and a reason to resist.
Play it: capable, tender and unromantic about danger. The everyday stakes matter most.
MicaPrison workshopThe young inmate who opens the first door.
Working beside Smashalice and Brick, she doubts they can beat the place—then acts when the escape begins. Her small choice turns an individual breakout into a collective one.
Play it: wary before brave. She needs a reason to trust the risk.
BrickPrison workshopOlder inmate; the person who asks what freedom will cost.
Brick is cautious when Smashalice says to open every cell. That caution is useful: he sees consequences, other people, and the danger in treating strangers as collateral.
Play it: practical, not cowardly. Make the group earn your yes.
SnatchbladeBioServe commandA calm corporate power broker who makes control sound like care.
He has access to BioServe’s food, housing, policing and medical systems. He calls forced relocation “logistics” and watches carefully for the people who are frightened by his questions.
Play it: never raise your voice. Offer a reasonable sentence that contains an unreasonable threat.
PunkflexDr. Safari’s allyThe friend who can see through charm.
In GRINDSPOT 5, Punkflex is injured but steady, loyal to Dr. Safari by choice rather than service. He presses Safari to use his access for one genuinely good act.
Play it: dry, observant and warm enough to tell the truth. Forgiveness is not automatic.
Arena CaptainArena enforcementThe official face of an order that feels like a threat.
The captain brings a squad to Jackrock’s workshop on Snatchblade’s instructions and calls it an escort. The role sits right where professional discipline meets a personal line.
Play it: procedural, controlled, and aware of the exact moment an order stops being defensible.
Moto & CrankRaidstar’s smart skatesTwo mobile companions with different instincts.
They travel with Raidstar through ruins, chapels and flooded routes. Treat them as distinct intelligences: one can push for action, the other for caution, mapping or memory.
Play it: precise and useful. Their viewpoint is practical rather than human.
Battle AnnouncerBattle Clock PlazaThe voice that turns violence into public entertainment.
The announcer keeps the crowd’s attention and the official story moving during the Battle Clock challenge. They need the spectacle to land even when the crowd senses the contest is rigged.
Play it: bright, polished and fast. Let a crack show only when the script no longer fits the facts.
GoliaArena contenderA named presence in the Battle Clock’s machinery.
Golia appears among the Battle Clock players around Aquaplane’s public challenge. The scripts give the role room: build a fighter, official or crowd favourite with a personal reason to protect the arena’s status quo.
Play it: give them a specific stake in being seen, winning or belonging.
OilsliccCivic ruler / Stormcrow’s brotherA public power who turns cruelty into civic procedure.
He presides over the Battle Clock’s public spectacle and stands against Aquaplane when she challenges the system. He and Stormcrow are brothers, but their authority works through different channels: Stormcrow’s mayoral office and Oilslicc’s civic theatre.
Play it: polished certainty. Make every terrible decision sound like the obvious order of things.
ShortstackBioServe CEOThe corporate authority behind the public machinery of power.
Shortstack appears around the Battle Clock with Oilslicc and the civic spectacle. As BioServe’s CEO, they can make a public event look operationally inevitable while quietly deciding what it is for.
Play it: competent, politically alert and always calculating the safest version of the truth.
Velvet, Razor & BlackbirdFlooded viaduct groupThree named figures on contested ground.
They meet Raidstar, Moto and Crank at the flooded viaduct garden in GRINDSPOT 4. The script establishes the encounter but leaves their personal histories open; use that space to make a local crew with competing priorities.
Play it: choose one shared history and one private disagreement before the scene starts.
Underdeck Host & Drunk SkaterUnderdeck skate floorThe people keeping a fragile social world alive.
At the Underdeck, the host runs the room while a drunk skater can turn any gathering unstable. They are useful ensemble engines: one protects the vibe, the other accidentally tests everyone’s loyalty.
Play it: the host notices everything; the skater says the thing polite people avoid.
